Dr. Thomas Hoppe is chief executive officer of Ontonym – Gesellschaft für semantische Webanwendungen mbH. After his graduation at the University of Dortmund in the field of logic programming and his work as research associate at the Technical University Berlin, he worked as project manager for T-Systems in the fields of search engines, web services, e-commerce, technology scouting, innovation management, evaluation of business models, development of business cases and semantic-based knowledge management. During this period he developed together with neofonie GmbH a novel intranet search engine for Deutsche Telekom AG and together with ontoprise GmbH a semantic-based knowledge management system for T-Systems Business Services GmbH.
2008 he founded together with three partners the Ontonym GmbH which focuses on the modeling of background knowledge for semantic web applications, on semantic search and comparison technology with a strong emphasizes on the language utterance of users.Besides his industrial experience he has a strong background in machine learning, knowledge representation, description logics and ontology modeling.
